John is of counsel to the firm and is semi-retired. His practice is now limited to negotiation of prenuptial agreements and to the mediation of settlements in matrimonial litigations.
John was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1963. He received his B.A. degree from Columbia College and his J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law. John is a Fellow, and has served on the Board of Governors, of the New York Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a national society with strict standards of admission. John has also served on its Board of Examiners, which screens applicants for admission, as well as on various committees. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, whose membership is limited to 100 attorneys nationwide, and contributed to the book Inside the Minds: Leading Divorce Lawyers, which was published in 2005.
John is listed in The Best Lawyers In America, Who’s Who in American Law, and enjoys an AV rating in Martindale-Hubble. He was named a "Super Lawyer" in all recent editions of New York Super Lawyers/ Manhattan, among 5% of Manhattan attorneys. According to the magazine, this selection was based on an independent survey of 59,000 Manhattan lawyers and an evaluation by a "blue ribbon panel of preeminent peers" in each area of practice.
