Eric S. Brown

Eric has extensive experience structuring and negotiating agreements in all areas of the entertainment industry, including book publishing, motion picture and television production, financing and distribution, live theatrical production, sponsorship, merchandising, and executive employment agreements.

His practice includes the representation of fiction and non-fiction authors in collaboration, book publishing and motion picture and television rights agreements; the negotiation of employment agreements for book publishing and other entertainment executives; serving as production counsel for motion picture and television productions, as well as Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.

Eric frequently speaks at legal conferences on entertainment law subjects.  He is a past Chairman of the Literary Publishing Division of the ABA Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries, and a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.  In 2012 and 2013, Eric was listed by "Super Lawyers" in the field of Entertainment and Sports, ranking him among the top 5% of attorneys in New York State, according to that publication.  He received his B.A. with Honors from The University of Michigan (High Distinction) in 1987 and his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law in 1990, where he was an editor of the Columbia-VLA Journal of Law & The Arts and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.  Eric was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1991.
