For a tenth consecutive year (since 2006, when the list was first published), FWRV attorneys have been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers, described as lawyers “who attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.” The 2015 edition lists partners Steven Beer, Elliot Brown, Nick Gordon, Neil Rosini, Michael Rudell, Daniel Wasser and Ken Weinrib in the Entertainment and Sports area of practice. John Vassallo, who is of counsel to the firm, was also selected in the field of Family Law. Also, partner Jake Levy was selected as one of New York Metro’s Rising Stars Honorees.
According to Super Lawyers, attorneys are selected in a four-step process starting with nominations by lawyers of top attorneys. A third-party independent research team then validates the list across 12 key indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Subsequently, the candidates are grouped into categories based on their practice areas and a panel made up of candidates with the highest point totals are asked to review the candidates. In the final selection process, those with the highest point totals from each category are selected.
The publication states that “the final published list represents no more than five percent of the lawyers in the state.” The selection process of the Rising Stars is the same except “a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger, or in practice for 10 years or less… [and] no more than 2.5 percent [of lawyers in a state] are named to Rising Stars.”
