The 2015 edition of America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, Chambers USA, has once again named FWRV one of three top-ranking New York firms in the category of Media and Entertainment practice, covering film, music, television and theater. This is the tenth straight year that FWRV has been awarded this elite ranking.
Chambers commended the firm for offering “clients a wealth of experience handling significant media and entertainment transactions in the film, television, theater and music industries.”
Four of the firm’s partners were cited in particular as “notable practitioners” in the Media and Entertainment category.
Listed in the top tier of Media & Entertainment: Film & Television, Michael Rudell, is highlighted by Chambers “for his strength in matters pertaining to the television and motion picture industries.” Chambers also noted Michael’s “impressive roster of clients, including Fortune 500 companies, major producers and celebrity artists.”
Elliot Brown is listed in the top tier of the Media & Entertainment: Theatre category. As Chambers mentions: “The ‘terrific’ Elliot brown offers expertise across the full range of media and entertainment industries, including television, theater, literary publishing and motion pictures.” Chambers also reports that Elliot is regarded by peers as a “vigorous lawyer in the area and he has been doing it a very long time.”
Nick Gordon, a top ranked lawyer in the Media & Entertainment: Music category, is described by Chambers as “an established music law practitioner who is recognized for his handling of a broad range of matters.” His “[a]reas of expertise include licensing, music publishing, joint ventures and management arrangements.”
Ken Weinrib is said “to command[] the respect of the entertainment legal market.” His peers say Ken “is very smart and reasonable and focused on getting the deal done.” Chambers also notes that “he represents a broad range of clients, from individual executives to major production companies.”
According to Chambers, the “qualities on which rankings are assessed include technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities most valued by the client.”
Chambers rankings are determined through investigation of lawyers and law firms with one-on-one interviews with key lawyers and clients, the most important part of their research being feedback from clients.
